Eukalipta Applied Research and Projects

Eukalipta (www.eukalipta.si) is a professional consultancy, research and project management organisation, which provides expertise in research, development and impact assessment of legal background of ICT. Eukalipta provides platform for ICT and law related international projects with focus on local markets and their performance in transnational environment. Eukalipta performs research, consultancy and project management for governmental institutions (Slovenian Ministry for Traffic), educational organizations (University of Primorska, Faculty of Management and Academy for Multimedia, Ljubljana), enterprises (Sonce.net, digital marketing) and non- profit organizations (Codeep artistic association).

EUKalipta owner, Katarina Krapez graduated law school in Ljubljana, Slovenia and holds an MA in Digital Media from the University of London. She was head of the legal office in the Slovenian Technology Agency where her work involved the preparation of the legal background in the field of technology in a newly established governmental agency. Key success was presentation of a new governmental technological programme in the field of defence and technology, which for the first time presented possibility for the enterprises to get subventions for the development of their own projects in the field of defence.

Katarina managed and coordinated the Slovenian Spletno Oko hotline from September 2006 until October 2007, which was part of European Commission Safer Internet Programme. Katarina participated in two EC research project dealing with the development of the eHealth in Slovenia, coordinated by Institute of Perspective Studies from Seville and regulatory impact assessment in Slovenia, coordinated by the European Network for Better Regulation.

She is guest-lecturer in University of Primorska, Faculty of Management and Academy of Multimedia, Ljubljana, where she teaches ICT and Multimedia law and Intelectual Property Law. Katarina is also involved in the research project and EC educational network Legal Framework for Information Society.

Davor Hvala, IT Managment Consultant

Davor Hvala is an experienced independent IT manager and proficient senior management professional based in Ljubljana, Slovenia.  Davor has over 15 years of experience managing large teams on large projects. He has proven track record in IT Service Management and holds both “ITIL v2 Manager’s Certificate in IT Service Management” and “ITIL v3 Expert Diploma”. He also has a strong background in project management and is a member of PMI (Project Management Institute) and holds PRINCE2 Practitioner’s certificate.  Davor is a certified TickIT auditor and has performed several internal audits against ISO 9001. In Hermes Softlab he managed all aspects of a business of approx. US $5 million annually.

He has extensive board-level experience through his time on the management board of two of Slovenia’s influential organisations – Poteza brokerage House (at the time the largest non-banking brokerage and investment banking house in Slovenia with over 70 employees) and Vzajemna Health Insurance Company (the third largest Slovenian insurance company, specializing in health insurance with approx. 65% market share). In 2008, he was instrumental in the acquisition of Veritas brokerage House, a major national competitor.

Davor has held the role of Director of IT and had direct responsibility for setting and implementing information technology strategy, company development and operations targets, strategic development, overall project supervision and management. He has spent time as an independent consultant in the field of IT Service Management and Business development.

He was experience of all aspects of team management, from salaries to interviewing job applicants and to planning individual employee’s personal and professional development He has substantial knowledge and experience of people motivation, coaching and guiding them to their full potential in a team of professionals, striving towards a common goal.

He is an active member of Združenje Manager, the Slovenian association of Managers and of Slovenian Directors Association. He holds a certificate of qualification for members of Supervisory Boards and non-executive members of Boards of Directors, issued by Slovenian Directors Association.
